Head of Commodities Trading Platform Development is a Tech Lead / Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering position to lead an established software engineering team driving through new platform development projects and enhancements. Looking for a hands on, technical, commodities knowledge and still passionate about coding and best practice and able to closely support / drive the teams delivery of the projects in tow.

This role sits in corporate and Institutional banking focused on the development of their market leading commodities trading platform for proprietary and institutional clients.

Description

Job Purpose

Head of development for the client facing commodities trading platform. This is the flagship product of their Commodities Derivatives business and has been built out with a comprehensive suite of trading commodities products.

Key Responsibilities

Through continual dialogue with Commodities front office business sponsors, ensure alignment on strategy and prioritisation pertaining to the Commodities platform, so that the platform capabilities grow in accordance with the ambition of the business.

Lead a team size of circa ten developers and guide them in meeting project timelines and deliverables to advance the Commodities trading platform.

o Steer, supervise, delegate and control the everyday workload and prioritisation of the teams

o Set individual goals, measure progress and achievement

o Define and implement the monitoring, performance and quality indicators across the project agenda

o Organise how the business operates and distribute the work, including recurrent projects and tasks

o Coordinate all activities and make decisions to advance platform developments and in accordance with plan

o Monitor the application of methods and rules, in particular monitoring the completion of key deliverables

Provide technical oversight and leadership.

Guarantee code quality, technical evolution, scalability and maintenance of the platform, and management of IT risks and cyber security.

Prepare effort estimates, impact assessments as required.

Verify that documentation and deliverables meet or exceed expectations.

Ensure the relevant Application Support teams are informed and aligned with respect to structural changes, and that knowledge is transferred.

Profile

This is a key role, requiring expertise in Commodities Trading and Trading platform developments with extensive experience delivering enterprise solutions for e-commerce systems in the Commodities domain.

Technical Skills and highly competent level C# (.Net 4.5 onwards), SQL Server, micro-services, web technologies and engineering Team Lead experience

Business knowledge of Commodities and Derivatives Trading products

Key Competencies organised and delivery-focused, with attention to detail solid work ethic and high levels of motivation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Basic Salary £120,000 – £135,000 with some flex where required and based on suitability of experience.
