Applause IT are hiring for a Network Security Engineer to join a government organisation in Birmingham tasked with leading industry compliance and regulation.

As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure to protect their network from Cyber Security threats. You will work closely with cross functional teams to monitor network traffic analyse security incidents and respond to security events. Your expertise in network security operations will be instrumental in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our organisation’s data and assets.

As a Network Security Engineer you will:

• Design, implement, and maintain the network security infrastructure. This will include firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and other security appliances.
• Monitor network traffic, security logs, and security event management systems (SIEM) to detect and respond to potential security incidents in a timely manner.
• Investigate security incidents, analyse attack vectors, and take appropriate remediation measures to prevent further incidents.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of networks and systems.
• Collaborate with the IT team to ensure that network security measures are aligned with overall IT infrastructure and organisational objectives.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify potential weaknesses in the network and provide recommendations for mitigation.
