Overview:We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. The Information Security Analyst will help develop, implement and maintain information security best practice across Virgin Red. You will be monitoring for threats and vulnerabilities and working collaboratively with all the teams to ensure that they continue to adopt, implement and maintain Virgin Red’s Information Security architecture principles.

Duties:

• Keep up to date with the latest cyber security and technology developments
• Evaluate emerging cyber security threats and ways to manage them
• Monitor for attacks, intrusion or malicious activity through the tools and logs
• Investigate security alerts and provide incident response in case of a security incident
• Maintain the information security risk register and assist with internal and external audits relating to information security
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in relation to cyber security issues, pen testing reports, and follow up actions from the information security audits
• Assist with the creation, maintenance and delivery of cyber security awareness training for colleagues
• Provide advice and guidance to employees on issues such as spam, social engineering, phishing and malicious emails
• Research security enhancements and develop best practices for information security
• Implementation of security policies and keeping Virgin Red’s security documents up to date

Desirable skills and Personal qualities:

• A passion for Cyber Security and a keen interest in IT
• Excellent IT skills and a knowledge of computer networks, operating systems, software, hardware and security
• An understanding of Cyber security risks associated with various technologies and way to manage them
• A good understanding of MAC and OS, cloud platforms, open source, networks and SaaS services
• Knowledge of tools and techniques used to monitor for cyber-attacks, intrusion and malicious activity
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and assess risks, threats, patterns, and trends

Entry requirements:

• an A Level in ICT
• OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT
• OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
• OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
