Accounting Manager

We are delighted to be working with a reputable and well established accountancy practice who are recruiting for an additional Accounting Manager to join their team based just south of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire as a result of growth.

This role is available on a hybrid basis after initial settling in period, but the client are based in a commutable location with easy access to public transport.

Working closely with the Accounting Directors assist in the review and management of work within the accounting department.  Overall you will be responsible for ensuring all accounting assignments are completed on a timely and compliant basis within agreed timescales whilst providing training and support to other members of the accounting team, whilst managing your own client portfolio.

Typical duties include:

• Preparing work on a portfolio basis, including management accounts, year end financial statements and FCA compliance reports
• Reviewing work and supporting more junior members of the team
• Planning assignment effectively
• Managing the delivery of assignments to ensure they run smoothly
• Taking the lead on client communication to ensure expectations are clear
• Preparing journal entries
• Completing general ledger operations
• Monthly financial statements, reconciling and maintaining balance sheet accounts
• Year end closings
• Preparing analysis of accounts
• Various other accounts duties

The successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:

• Previous experience of working within an accountancy practice environment is essential
• Formally qualified or actively working towards qualification such as ACA/ACCA or CIMA
• Experience in producing and reviewing financial statements
• Able to work independently being fully client facing
• Ability to train and develop other team members
• Team player with a flexible attitude
