The role

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Sedex, you will play a key role within our established yet growing team of Application, Desktop Support, and Infrastructure Engineers. This role is pivotal in enhancing our infrastructure capabilities, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems to support a global user base.

Working under the direction of the Lead Infrastructure Engineer and in collaboration with another Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will contribute to managing and optimizing our corporate infrastructure. Your focus will be on complementing the existing team’s skills, with a particular emphasis on areas that enhance our collective expertise. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation to support the design and implementation of secure, scalable systems and to contribute to the continuous improvement of our operational processes.

This position offers the chance to demonstrate your technical prowess, problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. You will be instrumental in driving Sedex’s infrastructure forward, aligning with our ambitious 5-year strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborative Infrastructure Design and Architecture: Work closely with the infrastructure team to support and enhance the design and implementation of IT infrastructure, ensuring systems are scalable, reliable, and performant.
• Specialized Support and Expertise: Bring specialized knowledge and skills to the team, potentially focusing on areas such as cloud computing, network security, or automation, to complement the existing team capabilities.
• Backup and Disaster Recovery: Collaborate on developing and managing sophisticated backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring robust data protection.
• Monitoring, Performance Optimisation: Engage in the implementation of monitoring solutions and contribute to the ongoing optimization of infrastructure for enhanced performance and efficiency.
• Security and Compliance: Support the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance across all platforms and systems.
• MDM and Technology Support: Assist in the management of MDM solutions and support the deployment of technology solutions across global locations.
• Effective Team Collaboration: Work alongside another Senior Infrastructure Engineer to share responsibilities and projects effectively, ensuring a cohesive and efficient approach to infrastructure management.
• Professional Development and Knowledge Sharing: Actively engage in knowledge sharing sessions within the team, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Current Technology Stack: Azure, Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, Intune, Carbonite, CrowdStrike, Tenable, Unifi, Cisco

Technical Skills

• Infrastructure Design and Architecture: Ability to design and plan scalable, reliable IT infrastructure that meets the organization’s needs.
• Backup and Disaster Recovery: Proficiency in creating and managing robust backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical data.
• System Administration: Expertise in administering and maintaining various operating systems and software applications.
• Network Administration: Strong knowledge of network protocols, configurations, and troubleshooting to ensure connectivity and data flow.
• Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience in managing cloud-based infrastructure.
• Security Best Practices: In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles and the ability to implement security measures to protect the organization’s data and systems.
