Senior Platform Engineer – Red Hat/RHEL

Lorien’s client, a leading Financial Service Organisation are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join on an initial 6-month contract supporting their Redhat Openshift platform through a mixture of project work and business as usual incident support.

The Platform Engineering Team sits within Technology Operations & Cyber Security (TOCS) and is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and innovating the bank’s underpinning platforms and technologies.

The role is about

• Innovating, supporting and maintaining the Bank’s Red Hat server estate
• Engineering, validating, implementing and quality assuring technical solutions
• Supporting projects implementing new infrastructure into the datacentres
• Root cause analysis and remediation of issues
• Working closely with others to estimate work, manage domain scope, risks and issues.
• Collaborating with internal and external parties to provide excellent customer service

To be brilliant you’ll bring

• Excellent sys admin skills and experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux v6 upwards
• Experience in Satellite
• Experience in server implementation, maintenance, monitoring and automation

(Infrastructure as Code) with Ansible, AAP

• A developer mindset and scripting skills to match in languages such as Python, Bash, API’s and data structures in JSON/YAML or other
• VMware experience
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Engineering mindset able to challenge the status quo and automate manual processes to deliver additional value
• Exceptional communication & teamwork skills

We would like you to have

• Experience of Red Hat Openshift, ARO, AKS.
• Experience of RHEL Patching best practices
• Experience of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery tooling
• Experience working with third parties
• Experience of working within an ITIL framework
