H9 Technical are currently working with an international energy company within the energy and gas power generation sector who are looking for a C&I Engineer to work at their site base in the East Midlands.

Role and Responsibilities

• Taking a leading role in control system engineering projects within hydrogen, gas-storage, renewables, battery storage and conventional generation plant environments. Other industries where there are significant transferrable skills include chemical, steel making, railway, and water industries.
• The development of distributed control systems, safety instrumented systems and basic plant instrumentation schemes.
• Delivering technical feasibility studies and front-end engineering design for C&I installations and equipment.
• Creating technical specifications for C&I systems, including topics such as functional safety, potentially explosive atmospheres, and cyber security.
• Technically leading multi-disciplined teams of permanent, temporary, and sub-contractor colleagues to deliver solutions on construction, installation, or major overhaul contracts.
• Factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, equipment commissioning and plant handover.
• Authoring technical reports for internal clients.

Skills & Qualifications

• Higher National Diploma or Degree level in an Control Systems, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering discipline, supported with a sound technical knowledge of control or process engineering design and / or practical application gained through a minimum of 2 years’ post-graduation relevant experience.
• Ideally have attained or be working towards professional Chartership status.
• Ideally have attained or be working towards being a certified Functional safety engineer or CompEx Ex12 Application design engineer.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Initiative-taking individual with the ability to plan and organise their workload and priorities.
• Developing people skills to enable effective working relationships within the team, in multi-discipline project teams and with senior stakeholders.
• The ability to work under pressure to meet challenging targets.
• The ability to work independently as well as working as part of a larger multi-discipline project team.
• Can demonstrate an innovative approach to solving problems.
• Flexibility to travel for this role, within the UK, and sometimes internationally.
• Proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office products, including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
