This Control Systems Infrastructure Manager will report to the Control Systems Manager and will work within the Technology, Strategy Regulation and Support Services based in our Ipswich office. You will be a permanent employee.

You will attract a salary of 89,786.00 and a bonus of 3%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) – 3 days in the office and 2 remote

Job Purpose:

The Control Systems Infrastructure Manager manages a team of six infrastructure engineers who oversee the development of UK Power Networks Operational Technology infrastructure.

You will ensure robust and scalable infrastructure operations that support critical control system activities, delivering 24x7x365 safe and secure operations and system reliability.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Team Leadership and Management

• Direct leadership and development of six infrastructure engineers.
• Manage the planning and allocation of resources and tasks to ensure optimal team performance and project delivery.
• Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
• Deputise for the Control Systems Applications Manager.

1. Infrastructure Oversight

• Ensure the reliability and resilience of OT infrastructure services including data centres, network systems, storage solutions, and server management.

1. Strategic Planning and Execution

• Develop infrastructure strategies that align with the technology goals of UK Power Networks.
• Collaborate with other managers in the Control Systems and Operational Technology domain, to ensure that infrastructure supports all control systems and operational requirements.

1. Budget Management

• Manage the budget allocated to OT infrastructure, ensuring cost-effectiveness and return on investment.

1. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

• Be the primary contact for OT infrastructure within the organisation.
• Communicate infrastructure plans and strategies to partners at all levels, ensuring agreement and support for projects.

1. Project Management

• Lead infrastructure projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts for procuring infrastructure services and equipment.

1. Compliance and Security

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
• Maintain security protocols and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard information assets against potential threats.

Nature and Scope:

You will report to the Control Systems Manager within the Technology Department, working with other important managers to ensure the OT infrastructure robustly supports UK Power Networks operational and strategic needs. You will be a visionary manager who is committed to delivering high-performance OT services and infrastructure solutions that guide the business forward.

The team goal is to improve safety, system performance, innovation, data accuracy and usability with a view to reduce CI’s and CML’s whilst maximising return on investment. Necessary to this is providing a Control System solution and service that is accessible and beneficial to the entire business.

Qualifications:

You will have experience in system infrastructure management and operations and should hold a degree or equivalent industry qualifications.

You will also demonstrate experience in the following areas:

• Knowledge of network systems, data centre management, server infrastructure, and storage solutions. Familiarity with on-prem and cloud technologies.
• Experience managing technical teams and projects. Ability to mentor, inspire, and lead a team towards achieving strategic goals.
• Understand agile workflows and the use of automation to deliver process and solution efficiency.
• Clearly convey complex IT/OT strategies and systems to a non-technical audience.
• Develop strategic plans for infrastructure development that align with our goals.
• Capability to anticipate potential issues and implement solutions.
• Budget Management: Experience in budget management and resource allocation to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of technology investments.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of the regulatory environment affecting OT infrastructure, with an emphasis on compliance and cyber security.
