The OpportunityA great opportunity for an ambitious Cyber Security professional to join this established professional services business in managing and developing all aspects of the technical security.They operate a flexible hybrid working model though you will be expected to be in the Newcastle office on average 2 days a week.The RoleIn this new role, as part of the IT team, you will:

• Document Management System and file server security management.
• Improve the Cloud Security across the business acting as the point of contact for security.
• Operate any daily / weekly / monthly checks as required and provide standard reports as necessary.
• Configure appropriate security parameters in monitoring systems and act as a technical point of escalation for any alerted issues.
• Review, escalate and action any unusual event behaviour identified by the security and data leak protection systems.
• Identify (and report) threats and vulnerabilities.
• Assist with development and maintenance of the Firm-wide security infrastructure configuration, policies and procedures, identifying improvements to procedures, and reporting on incidents.
• Ability to fully utilize inbuilt security tools and in conjunction with appropriate outside agencies conduct forensic investigations as authorised through the security process.
• Work co-operatively with project teams when assigned and ensure that new project and changes adhere to the security policies and infrastructure governance standards and integrate into existing procedures or refining them as appropriate.
• Keep a technical industry awareness of security risks and exposures and proactively promote effective counter-measures.
• Perform diagnostics & analysis of firewalls, routers, switches and associated systems to ensure maximum system reliability & security
• Feed threat intel and vulnerability information to the larger IT team

The RequirementsAs an experienced IT Security professional with at least 2 years working in this field, you will possess a broad range of skills and have been exposed to managing tools including EDR, email security, web filtering, vulnerability assessments and have ideally used a SIEM tool.Notably you will have an in depth knowledge of some or all of the following – Network, server, desktop and their security components e.g. Azure AD, Windows Server, Windows 10/11, Office 365, Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Web Filtering, Endpoint Detection and Response, SIEM, Zero Trust Systems, MFA, SSO.In addition you will posses a good understanding of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+ and NIST.Most importantly you must possess strong stakeholder management skills to be able to work not only with IT colleagues, but also with management as well as 3rd parties.
