Cyber Security Solutions Designer

Salary: Up £85,000 + Discretionary Bonus + Additional Corporate Benefits Package

Location: Nationwide

Working Pattern: Remote (Occasional visit to closest office)

The Client: A leading financial services firm requires a Cyber Security Solutions Architect!

The Role:

The Cyber solutions designer is part of a dynamic, high-performing Cyber change delivery team, responsible for driving innovation and solutions to help drive our strategy forward. The Solution designer will design security solutions and provide consultancy and assurance to the banks wider design community, ensuring security solutions are defined and in compliance with policies and procedures. Working closely with Cyber Solution Architecture and other Cyber solutions designers to align solutions designs to our Cyber Security Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing security network, operational and software solutions designs for security specific projects
• Assess and approve the security of in-house and third party applications, services and infrastructure designs.
• Make security recommendations to improve the security of new or existing applications, services, processes, and infrastructure designs.
• Identify key points that will require auditing to ensure future compliance with internal policy/standards, industry regulations or are indicators of compromise.
• Define security operation patterns to ensure that the security of applications, services and infrastructure are managed in line with existing security policies and principles agreed during the initial

• Working closely with Security Architect and Technology colleagues to ensure that design options are effectively evaluated and that robust recommendations are made.
• Ongoing governance of project delivery against agreed designs and assessment of the impact of change requests on the high-level design.
• Running design forums and workshops with developer, operational and business colleagues. Third party vendors will often be involved as well.
• Distribution of designs for approval and presentation of said designs at formal clinics
• Provision of Solution Design estimates for input to Business Cases
• Providing specialist level of knowledge and experience in Cyber solutions architecture and design.
• Improve our delivery through innovation, continuous improvement and automation to support delivery of change

Key Skills:

• Experienced IT professional with the ability to lead/influence/guide senior stakeholders across both business and technology domains.
• Practical experience implementing/assessing risk against company and external standards.
• Practical experience reviewing designs and enhancing security solutions against company and or external standards.
• Experience of delivering secure solution designs
• Experience of operational implementation of solutions and multi project prioritisation
• Strong relationship management, communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey key messages across all levels of the organisation, tailoring output accordingly.
• Experience of a range of Cyber technologies including, on-prem and cloud
• Experience and delivery within Security NIST framework
• Experience of working in waterfall and agile environments
• Understanding and experience of design governance
• Ability to work with both Business and Technology stakeholders to build personal credibility in shaping of solutions to business problems
• Ability to manage and resolve design risks and issues
• The ability to influence and challenge at a senior level to get the best outcome
• Knowledge and a demonstrable interest for information & technical security and its technologies.
• Strong Technical expertise and decision-making skills
• Expert in effective communication and resolving complex situations
• Exposure to risk and control concepts

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working effectively with other Change and Technology professionals.
• Experience of delivering cyber solutions in financial organisation
• Understanding of Zero Trust and modern Identity centric security architectures
• Knowledge of Azure Cyber Security Architecture
• Knowledge of Information Security concepts such as encryption using keys, SSL or HTTPS
• An understanding of privileged access management solutions
• An understanding of the key technology capabilities:
• endpoint – EDR / XDR – extended detection and response
• SOAR – Security Orchestration and Response
• Data Protection, Classification, Encryption, Key Management
• SDLC – Secure Dev Ops
• SASE / Zero Trust Network Access
• Attack Surfance Management
• Cyber Risk and Governance
• An understanding of the Financial sector – sound business acumen and judgement; ability to see and communicate technology challenges in business terms; ability to understand and deliver business value.
