Group IT Engineer – 36,000 per annum – Stockport

Principal IT are working with a well-known multi franchise vehicle dealership business based in Stockport that are looking for a group IT engineer to join their team. In this role you will play a vital part in supporting their future strategy. They are looking for someone who is passionate about continuous professional development and has an innovative approach to incorporating new technologies into their operations. You will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of network and server infrastructure. You will also be responsible for aligning the IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements.

Reporting directly to the Group IT Manager, the role will be field-based covering our dealerships in the North West, with an occasional need to travel to our Midlands and Southern sites. More often than not you will be visiting 2-3 sites a week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.

• Maintaining and configuring Cisco network devices and Microsoft software environments.

• Implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures to protect the company’s systems and data.

• Monitoring and maintaining servers, storage, and backup solutions.

• Participating in IT projects, including planning, implementation, and post-implementation support.

• Collaborating with different teams to identify and resolve IT-related issues.

• Documenting IT processes and maintain an inventory of IT equipment and software.

• Remaining up-to-date with industry trends and technologies to improve IT infrastructure.

• Providing training and guidance to end-users on IT best practices.

• Assisting with IT-related procurement and vendor management.

• Managing responsibilities and tasks effectively – travel to different dealership locations as appropriate.

Requirements:

• An IT related degree or similar related qualification or be able to demonstrate 2-3 years IT support experience.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications) is desirable.

• Strong knowledge of networking equipment and technologies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems, Office 365, and other Microsoft applications.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.

• UK driving license is essential.

The Package:

If successful our client is offering a salary of 36,000 per annum, favourable holiday allowance, company contributed pension scheme.
