About the role
The division of Information Security, Identity and Access Management (IS and IDAM) is accountable for cyber security across all areas of the University and its international centres. The division is comprised of two departments: Cyber Security Operations and Identity and Access Management.
The Head of Security Architecture and Engineering will be responsible and accountable for providing enterprise-wide architectural and engineering solutions. They will provide a clear vision and strategic direction for the University’s IT security architecture, ensuring that solutions are always ‘secure by design’. They will be a member of the divisional leadership team, providing strategic direction and ensuring the security of our services.
The person
You’ll have significant experience of working across organisational boundaries and managing the needs of a complex map of stakeholders. You’ll have previously architected and designed technical systems and services to mitigate security risks, particularly with cloud-based environments. As the Head of Security Architecture and Engineering at The University of Manchester, you will be immersed in several key IT programmes having a direct impact on the current and future iterations of architectural and engineering solutions.

Salary / Package
This is a senior leadership position (grade 8) offering a competitive salary (depending on experience), along with 29 days annual leave (plus 4 closure days over Christmas and 8 bank holidays), flexible working (office based at least two days a week) and an attractive pension scheme (up to 21% employer contributions).
