An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring IT Technician Apprentice to join Portsmouth Aviation! We are seeking an IT Support talent to join our team at Portsmouth Aviation, an engineering company located in Portsmouth. Reporting directly to the Support Lead, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our staff seeking technical assistance. The successful applicant will undertake a L3 Information Communication Technician: Technical Support apprenticeship and you will have a great progression opportunity.

Training to be provided:

As an IT Apprentice, you will be studying towards a level three ICT Support Technician apprenticeship. This apprenticeship is 22 months in length and will involve ongoing onsite training and mentoring from the Portsmouth Aviation team combined with 25 days of off the job training at the PETA training centre in Cosham.

About the role:

You will be responsible for working with and aiding our current IT Technicians in their everyday work, building knowledge of our business and the way we do things, leading towards taking on regular day to day workloads and contributing to our daily tasks quota.

Joining the team as an IT Technician Apprentice, your day-to-day duties will involve:

• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
• Assisting with system updates
• Addressing vulnerabilities and supporting the maintenance of our IT infrastructure

Essential skills:

• The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of computer systems
• A keen interest in networks and cybersecurity
• Excellent problem solving skills
• An enthusiastic attitude towards learning, and, most importantly, the confidence and communication skills to effectively collaborate to staff and within the team
• GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) maths and English
