LIMS and IT Support Technician (Apprentice) Full Time

We have an apprentice opportunity for a LIMS and IT Support Technician.

The role best suits someone interested in pathology IT systems who want to expand their stakeholder base to laboratory customers and clinicians.

Other duties include:

• Maintenance and the development of IT systems, including interfacing and connectivity to various internal and external laboratory systems
• Assist in System Administration for the laboratory information system (LIMS)
• Follow established policies and develop /maintain SOPs for areas of responsibility.
• Ensure the LIMS and IT systems maintain following ISO15189:2012 and other regulatory accreditation standards.

Essential Skills and Experience

Essential

• • Foundation Degree in Science or Technology
  • An understanding of Pathology IT systems, especially LIMS
  • At least 12 to 18 months of experience having worked within a Pathology Laboratory environment
  • Problem-solving Skills
  • Experience working with external service providers
  • Able to work proactively and plan, organise and manage own workload
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal professionally with people at all levels
  • Must be flexible in approach to the work as priorities change
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Confident and personable with vital emotional intelligence
  • A fast learner with excellent attention to detail
  • Significant experience working with health data and information governance hence having a clear understanding of the obligations and responsibilities of confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with cyber security controls
  • Excellent timekeeping, reliability and adaptability
  • Can do attitude

Desirable

• • Experienced in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience working with NHS
  • Experience with desktop/ office applications, especially Office 365
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows (both Desktop & Server) Operating Systems support
  • Any relevant IT qualifications
