Systems Engineer

We are looking for a passionate and experienced IT Engineer to join our vibrant and dynamic team. The right person will have a strong understanding of networking, server operating systems, virtualization, storage, IT security, backup and disaster recovery. You will also have experience working in planning, leading and implementing projects to upgrade or replace IT systems in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead or participate in projects to upgrade or replace IT systems, including the planning, testing, installation, documentation, and support of new versions of system software and hardware.
• As part of a team, provide general day-to-day administration of the on-premise and cloud infrastructure by providing a safe, secure, and a well-managed platform which underpins the services offered to the organisation.
• Ensuring that all relevant operational procedures are adhered to while administering the IT infrastructure, which includes but is not limited to networks, servers, storage, virtual infrastructure, cloud infrastructure, databases, telephony, backups, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, and data centre operations.
• Act as a point of escalation for the IT Service Desk, ensuring that the ticket lifecycle is properly owned throughout the escalation process.
• Working in close partnership with the Head of IT Infrastructure in the monitoring of all areas of the IT infrastructure to enable the effective management of infrastructure capacity, availability, security and performance.
• Manage and maintain the backup systems and processes, ensuring the back up of all systems, data and applications on the network is compliant and in line with the business needs of the organisation.

Skills and Requirements:

• Networking, including Layer2&3 switching, Firewalls and Wireless Networks
• Microsoft Server operating systems
• VMware based virtualised environments
• Storage Area Networks
• IT Security
• Backup (experience with Veeam desirable) and Disaster Recovery methodologies
• Experience working in planning, leading and implementing projects to upgrade or replace IT systems in a hybrid environment.
