Technology Director

My client, a gaming business based in London, has a need for an experienced Technology Director to join their team. This role is to manage a team of highly skilled architects, and also oversee the modernisation of existing architecture to take advantage of cloud services and to reduce friction for content across out ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will have a very good technical background and would have moved in to a leadership role where they have responsibility for the Technology Roadmap, Strategy and execution/delivery of these. Good stakeholder management experience is essential!

The successful candidate will be required to be on site 3 days per week on average.

The role:Craft a Forward-Thinking Technology Roadmap:

• Develop a flexible and adaptive multi-year technology roadmap, covering applications, infrastructure, data, and technology suppliers. Aim to position technology as a strategic advantage, fostering an environment that values innovation and embraces change collaboratively.

Cultivate Organizational Alignment:

• Foster organizational alignment around the roadmap, ensuring a harmonious balance between short-term priorities and longer-term objectives. Emphasize commercial viability, technical feasibility, and alignment with our risk appetite. Encourage a collaborative approach that values diverse perspectives.

Implement and Evolve Roadmaps:

• Implement the roadmap by establishing formal mechanisms such as governance and accountability, complemented by informal methods like influencing and visioning. Continuously adapt roadmaps to reflect changes in strategy, market dynamics, technology, suppliers, and organizational learning.

Leadership and Team Development:

• Lead the development of a high-performing architecture and strategy team. Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture through coaching, mentoring, and effective performance management. Actively support diversity in recruitment efforts.

QualificationsExtensive Experience in Strategic Technology Planning:

• Demonstrate substantial experience in defining technology roadmaps aligned with business priorities, capabilities, and functional structures.

Comprehensive Knowledge Across Architecture Domains:

• Possess broad knowledge and experience across all aspects of architecture, including business, service, application, data, infrastructure, and integration.

Awareness of Technology Trends:

• Stay current with technology trends and IT strategy, understanding their potential to drive value. This includes Digital Platforms, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Data, and Digital Service Design and Delivery.

Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks:

• Have an understanding of and experience with Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as ISO, TOGAF, etc.

Industry Experience:

• Ideally, have experience in Fintech or a strong background in combining new cloud-based technology designs with 3-tier architectures.
