PointWire delivers cyber security services and solutions to several different organisations in both the private and public sector. Since we established ourselves in 2019, we have partnered with several leading software providers in the cyber security space including Corelight, Crowdstrike, Deep Instinct, Microsoft, and Tanium. Our clients tend to range from 100s to 100,000s of employees and devices; with our services ultimately helping to augment the capabilities of in-house security and operation teams so that they can be more effective with less resources.

What this role entails
PointWire is a technology business built on the reputation of both technical and customer service excellence. The Technical Engineer role is a role in the organisation who will support customers and partners in delivering high quality consultancy and to ensure customer environments are well protected against an ever-growing threat landscape. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and continually expand their skills and expertise. In addition to the technical skills, the ideal candidate will be supportive, relatable, and approachable.

This role is a hands-on role which will require the successful candidate maintain hands on experience and a working knowledge of the products provided by our partner vendors. In addition, the ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of at least one operating system however experience with multiple different operating systems will be advantageous.

In addition, this role will include but isn t limited to:

• Ongoing security monitoring through daily, weekly and monthly checks of assigned customer deployments.
• End to end ownership of support tickets from PointWire customers.
• Assisting with implementation of and maintaining any required standards, e.g. ISO 27001.
• A solid understanding of things like proxy servers, network firewalls, DMZ s (demilitarised zones) and secure air gapped networks.
• Scripting / coding capabilities are a definite bonus for this role. Proficiency in one or more of the following languages will be advantageous.
• You should have a breadth of knowledge and understanding across all facets of IT with a depth of understanding in key functional areas like Patch management, Vulnerability management, Endpoint Security as well as core infrastructure experience.
• Stay ahead of the curve in the endpoint security landscape, which is continually evolving. This role requires the self-motivation and curiosity to stay up to date with all thing s technology focussed.
• Pre-sales support experience or willingness to learn and get involved with technical sales support including delivery of Proof of Value (POV) or Proof of Concept (POC) engagements will be advantageous.
• Cloud experience, and an understanding of well-architected in an IaaS setting as it relates to is preferable but where it s missing; a willingness to learn and develop these skills is essential.
• Be unafraid of the unknown, with the ability to go into complex detail but still be able to relay things back in a human form.
• Salary: Up to £80,000 p/a depending on experience.
