Harvey Nash is delighted to be partnering with the University of Leeds to recruit a Cyber Security Operations Manager.

The university has set out an ambitious plan to enhance their cybersecurity offering, recognising the rapidly-evolving digital world and the risks associated with cyberattacks on leading research institutions – they have invested the majority of a £70m budget to develop a new Security Operations Centre, deploying new modern tools and services as well as bringing in a leading 24/7 Managed Security Services Provider.

Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, you will be accountable for the end-to-end management of the newly-established Security Operations Centre, managing a team of 20 internal and 25 external security professionals, you will create a cohesive and positive partnership with the Managed Security Services Provider – this is crucial to the success of the centre and the position holder.

You will lead the technical security operations, assessing the risk appetite for the university and setting up the governance structures accordingly.
Overseeing the planning, testing, and response to security and incidents.

Experience of interest:

• Strong experience with Secure Operations Management, Applied Technical Security, Risk Mitigation, Risk Understanding
• Development of a security service, implementing effective standards and strategies
• Strong soft/interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships with key stakeholders and develop a positive working environment for your team, internal support teams, and third-party suppliers
• Accountability for the detection, response, resolution, vulnerability management, and threat detection
• Ownership of SIEM platform (Splunk), Threat and Vulnerability Management, Endpoint Security, and other cybersecurity technologies
