Director, Enterprise Architect

WHAT YOU’LL DO
BCG is looking for a director level Enterprise Architect to drive the architectural modernisation and strategic technology direction of our entre digital estate used by BCGers and clients across the globe, 24×7, 365 days of the year.

The heart of this role is driving and co-ordinating the delivery of the Enterprise Architecture for BCGs entire business. You will be working with other architects at Director and Senior Director level to achieve this and be accountable for delivering insights and forward direction to the Digital Leadership team and our C-Suite on where to invest now, and in the future, to deliver the optimal architecture for our business goals.

You will be an expert in enterprise architecture and have depth and breadth of experience across a number of areas including applications, workplace, infrastructure, integration, DevOps and cyber security.

You’ll play a leading role in the digital transformation of BCG bringing teams together to form a cohesive understanding of our business and the underlying technology, where we are great and where we can improve and should invest to maximise the value of our digital investments.
YOU’RE GOOD AT

• Enterprise Architecture and Tech Strategy – including business strategy, tech strategy, capability modelling, business gap & opportunity analysis, tech assessments, business cases, portfolio analysis, roadmaps, cost analysis, tech metrics (DORA, etc), tech radar, etc.
• Communicating all levels in the organisation, able to expertly converse with all stakeholder groups from our C-Suite, business leaders, engineers, etc. You will be a brilliant storyteller and produce amazing PowerPoint.
• Energising our people to set a vision and see the possibilities for efficiency, effectiveness of using modern technologies i.e. GenAI, APIs, Microservices, cloud first, data products etc.
• Being disciplined in your own execution and driving others to deliver. You are highly autonomous and highly driven, tenacious in getting work done across indirect reporting lines.
• Finding great answers to complex and ambiguous questions. Connecting and collaborating across teams to develop the Enterprise architectures. You will seek diverse views, and with a growth mindset considering both conventional and unconventional answers.
• Rolling up your sleeves and “doing”, pioneering the way forward and bring others along with you. You produce high-quality Enterprise Architecture arguments and supporting materials. You are adept at agreeing these at different levels in the organisation.
• You will be enthused by technology. Knowledgeable and conversant with modern computing paradigms and always curious and driven to learn more and applying this to your work. You will demonstrate expertise in modern digital thinking including domain driven design, APIs, microservices, cloud, cloud security and identity services on cloud.
• Optimising your own role and delivering results. You understand that architecture is part of a value stream where we need to play our part in being efficient to help increase velocity and reduce risk across the architecture team and the teams we work with.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

• 8+ years’ experience leading and owning the enterprise architecture of a significant platform estate. This includes managing the value, opportunities, inventory, roadmaps, rationalisation, and total cost for a board platform organisation
• Your experience will include multiple successful examples of autonomously:
  • planning a global platform estate in various dimensions of requirements, technology, cost, value, rationalisation, etc.
  • leading and agreeing investment decisions at a portfolio and individual technology level
  • leading decisions through to a conclusion in a highly matrixed organisation with minimal or no supervision.
  • preparing materials for, and presenting at, senior levels including C-Suite

YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be reporting to the BCG IT Executive Director for Enterprise Architecture and work in the central Enterprise Architecture team. This is an individual contributor role with an expectation of strongly influencing and leading the Enterprise architects working in across the digital organisation.
