Our client, a leading company in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Head of PMO to join their team. With a 60-year heritage, our client specialises in sensors, communications, cyber, AI, and ML technologies. The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the transformation of an existing transactional PMO into a mature organisation that provides services to a 100 million Business Unit. As the Head of PMO, you will play a crucial role in leading change management and ensuring business success by delivering value-add services to the functions within the Business Unit. You will promote a culture of continuous improvement, drive optimisation across the Business Unit and the wider company, and provide knowledge, information, and general guidance on Project and Portfolio Management (PPM).

Key Responsibilities

• Be accountable for the development and provision of all key PMO services, including planning, financials, resource management, risk and issue management, reporting, governance, and method compliance.
• Promote and nurture a culture of excellent collective and individual P3M performance, embrace change, and drive continuous improvement.
• Drive the identification, development, deployment, and reassignment of P3M resources.
• Act as the custodian of local P3M standards and their continuous improvement, maintaining a centralised repository for project management knowledge, templates, and local practices.
• Design, implement, and support effective P3M tools, maintaining a centralised repository for status reports, work plans, proposals, change requests, etc.
• Develop user-focused reporting frameworks that produce consistent P3M reports, providing easily digestible data, visualisations, analysis, and insights to senior leaders and sponsors.
• Establish and maintain governance for delivery, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities.
• Maintain the Business Unit’s Enterprise Risk Management System and drive our clients PMO Community alongside other Heads of PMO in other Business Units.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications

• You will be asked to provide evidence from your experience leading similar transformation projects
• Degree qualification – Desired
• Appropriate P3M qualifications (P3O, APM, MoP, MSP, Prince2)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Experience of setting up PMOs in different environments, including gathering requirements, developing services/people and embedding services into a BAU PMO offering.
• Data analysis experience – Desired
• Information and Data Management experience – Preferred
• P3M experience in a customer facing organisations, preferably with experience of delivering complex frameworks and programmes – Preferred
• Knowledge of developing a reporting architecture and solutions utilising the Microsoft Power platform.

Clearances
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible to achieve SC clearance. As a result, you should be a British Citizen and have resided in the U.K. for the last 5 years.
