IT Operations and Security Officer – London (fully onsite) – 35,000

We are seeking top-tier professionals to join a dynamic team as an IT Operations and Security Officer. This is an exciting opportunity for those who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about technology and security.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems Administration:

• Oversee Unix and Windows server environments, focusing on performance and security.
• Manage cloud infrastructures on Azure to optimise resources.
• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Provide expert technical support and troubleshoot issues.
• Enforce security measures including firewalls and encryption.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
• Document procedures and configurations meticulously.
• Implement and manage SysOps tools for application logs and system monitoring.

Network Administration:

• Design and deploy scalable network architectures.
• Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Optimise network performance with load balancing, traffic analysis, and QoS policies.
• Maintain comprehensive network documentation and generate performance reports.
• Manage vendor relationships for network hardware/software procurement.
• Implement NetOps systems for network monitoring.

Cyber Security Function:

• Develop and enforce policies to protect sensitive financial data.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Lead incident response efforts, including investigation and recovery.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
• Design and deploy security controls such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
• Implement and manage a SecOps monitoring environment and attack detection labs.

User Support:

• Provide daily IT support to team members, resolving technical issues promptly.
• Assist users with software, hardware, and network troubleshooting.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
• Support Office 365 applications including Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
• Conduct training sessions and create documentation to enhance user proficiency.
• Monitor and maintain IT assets, ensuring all equipment is up-to-date.
• Collaborate with various departments to resolve complex issues efficiently.

Specific Skills and Competencies:

• Extensive experience in IT support roles, advancing from 1st to 3rd line support within 3-5 years.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows & Linux server environments and DevOps tools.
• Proficiency in Office 365 suite, Windows OS, Unix systems, scripting (Python, Unix), SharePoint, Azure, Windows AD policies, and server management.
• Understanding of Microsoft security products and policies.
• Knowledge of networking configurations and troubleshooting (Routing, Firewall policies, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN).
• Capability to create and maintain comprehensive IT documentation.
• High-level infrastructure and networking support experience in critical business environments.
• Familiarity with a range of cyber security tools and practices.
• Experience with complex IT projects, including cloud migrations and multi-site desktop updates.
• Solid understanding of various operating systems and server management tools (RedHat, Linux, HP/Dell Servers, Hyper V, vSphere, vCentre, Ubuntu, CentOS, SQL Server).

Education and Professional Certifications:

A diploma or degree in a related field is highly encouraged. Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, PMP, Prince2, ITIL, MCSE, Azure, AWS, CompTIA, etc., are highly desirable.
