This is a rewarding role within SSE’s Renewables IT Operations team. Our Renewables Business strives to be the largest and most efficient developer of onshore and offshore wind in the UK and Ireland as well as developing our effective hydro fleet. We drive new growth by identifying, developing, building and operating high quality assets in GB, Ireland and Internationally. In order to contribute to a low carbon future, we have committed to treble our current Renewables output by 2030. You will join the SSE Renewables IT (SSER IT) team during a transformational period as we adopt more Agile ways of working, further enhanced by the adoption of DevOps. This crucial role will have laser focus on team financials, will support a number of teams to meet reporting needs and be pivotal in supporting the CIO and Leadership team for Renewables IT during budget and forecast cycles.
About the Role
Base Location: Glasgow, Perth or Aberdeen
Salary: £49,559 – £56,757 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The IT Operations function is fundamental to enabling consistent and reliable delivery and service to our Renewables customers. This role has a particular focus on finance and there is a wide range of exposure across our Renewables Business including engagement with senior management, Directors and various Finance teams. The role will support the Renewables CIO and Leadership Team providing accurate finance information for both Capex (Project) and Opex (Run/BAU) and transparency to IT and Business teams. Being able to help shape budgets, forecast and long terms plans as well as identifying efficiencies with contracts and 3rd parties will also be a key part of this role which reports to the Portfolio and Finance Manager. There will be the need to raise purchase orders and ensure timely invoicing and receipting and providing financial advice and guidance to our team members.
Being able to tie the finance position back to Portfolio and value reporting to demonstrate delivery of business outcomes will also be key.
Key Responsibilities:
– Ensuring the day to day financial position is supported for all teams for capex and opex.
– Laser focus, supporting all teams with spend management, tracking monthly actuals v forecasts.
– Building forecasts and budgets, ensuring finance rules are understood, communicating and reporting.
– Aligning detail with the Portfolio view and Finance view providing team and strategic, evidence-based senior management reporting.
– Ensuring that finance reporting cycles are adhered to and supporting the teams with this.
– Supporting the management of software licencing and cloud & infrastructure for the Renewables IT Department.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
– Strong experience working with accounts in a project or programme finance role as well as general accounting experience, ideally in IT.
– Experience in working with and managing 3rd parties and/or contracts.
– Sound knowledge and experience in articulating value, benefit, opportunity & risk at Portfolio and team levels.
– Experience in developing improvements and automation in reporting with tools such as PowerBI.
– Great communication skills and ability to support new and existing team members with sound financial principles and policies.
– A keen eye for detail and ability to implement efficient processes.
