Key Responsibilities

• Act as a focal point to advise and guide Forces, PDS and other National Policing Systems and Services users on effective cyber risk management and compliance.• Help identify cyber risks and advise on appropriate controls and mitigations, ensuring these are based on up to date and relevant threat intelligence and agreed standards and guidance, and are articulated in terms meaningful to the business.• Support the resolution of major compliance and risk issues identified in PDS, UK Forces and National Systems and Services. Advise on cyber risk management decisions and remedial actions.• Advise and recommend where risks should not be tolerated and provide a point of escalation, using professional judgement and factoring in risk appetite.• Review, assess and assure cyber security documentation, including System Security Plans, Security Assurance Documents etc.• Advise on cyber risk management matters relating to the supply chain and managed service providers. Provide support to the Third Party Assurance for Policing (TPAP) scheme when required on individual projects.• Contribute to the continuous improvement of agreed Cyber processes, policies and standards and advise on ongoing compliance.• Contribute to the development of the PDS Cyber Services (CS) Risk and Compliance monitoring plan to ensure that PDS, PDS CS and Policing and leas achieve their short, medium and long-term security protection objectives.• Ensure all risks that require escalation in accordance with the National Police Information Risk Management Framework are notified to the Risk and TPAP Manager for inclusion in the national risk register.• Monitor technological, social and scientific trends that could influence PDS CS risk and compliance planning and management.• Forge strong relationships with key PDS stakeholders, enabling effective co-ordination of all compliance and risk activities in support of corporate objectives.• Document, implement and execute processes and procedures for monitoring and management of compliance with all legal, regulatory and policy standards, requirements and/or directives, at local and national levels.• Document, implement and execute processes for the identification, recording, tracking and reporting of cyber risks affecting National Policing Systems and Forces.• Work with colleagues and the Chief Cyber Architect on the requirements, design, development and implementation of automated solutions that enhance the capabilities of the PDS Cyber Services function in the provision of risk and compliance services.• Provide direction, oversight and guidance to security risk and compliance subcontractors in the provision of cyber compliance and risk identification and quantification for National Policing systems, in line with National Policing policy and standards, legislation, regulation and industry best practice.

Essential Experience

• A minimum of 5 years of proven IT/Information security and risk experience in large organisations with complex security and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience of conducting risk reviews in cloud service provider environments.
• Experience in defining and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack.
• Strong knowledge and ability to demonstrate the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework, mapping and translating NIST Cyber Security Controls to other frameworks such as ISO27001 and CIS Top 20 controls, including understanding of the Azure Cloud Adoption Framework.
• Demonstrate a track record of developing strong working relationships with a wide number of stakeholders, particularly in managing expectations across a large number of disparate customer, supplier and stakeholder groups.
